OSTEOPATHY
Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment to provide pain relief for the body's structural and mechanical problems. We use many different osteopathic techniques including massage and manipulation, alongside good advice and exercise prescription. In this way we work with you to help relieve aches and pains.

Is a gentle Osteopathic technique that treats the whole body and can be used on people of ALL ages.

Discovered almost a century ago by William Garner Sutherland, it works through an involuntary mechanism inherent within the body and is excellent for treating most musculoskeletal problems. Sutherland noticed joints in the skull and wondered why they were present; he felt that the bones may therefore move. He set about trying to prove his hypothesis wrong and spent 25 years researching by utilising techniques on himself. He made contraptions that held different parts of his skull down and noted the effect on his body. He found widespread effects on the body including depression, headaches, muscle pains and even low back pain by compressing his head or restricting movement in his pelvic bones. He then started using the technique to help his patients. Cindy McIntyre has been utilising Cranial techniques for a number of years, and has undertaken many postgraduate training courses since she qualified in 2000. She has a number of patients who attend the clinic for treatment of various problems including migraine, headaches, low back and neck pain, pelvic pain during and/or after pregnancy, chronic pain etc. She has also established a children's clinic since practising in Letchworth where she treats many different conditions.

ORTHOTICS
Orthotics fit into your shoes to modify your foot function and so may help reduce pain. There are many types such as cushioned heel cups or off the shelf insoles, but the most effective are custom made devices. These are crafted to meet the specific needs of a particular individual. Pegasus Orthoses manufacture arguably the best orthotic device on the market and have established themselves as market leaders. The orthotics are custom made using a CAD-CAM computer program to optimise foot correction. We prescribe Pegasus orthoses for some of the musculo-skeletal problems that we treat if the problem is thought to be significantly influenced by the patient's foot mechanics.

HOMEOPATHY
Homeopathy is a safe, gentle and effective form of complimentary medicine, using natural remedies which are non-toxic, non-addictive and free from side effects. The remedies are safe to use even during pregnancy, and for small children. Homeopathy is a therapy that aims to aid our body's innate healing process by using diluted natural substances. The homeopath's skill is in matching not only the remedy to the specific symptoms but also to the specific person. Each person is an individual with a particular lifestyle, dietary habits, personality type and family medical history. So although Homeopathic remedies can be purchased off the shelf but it is significantly more effective to have a consultation with a qualified homeopath.

SPORTS & REMEDIAL MASSAGE
Sports & remedial massage has huge benefits for our bodies, it can improve your general health as well as help get rid of pain. It reduces discomfort buy softening and stretching muscle, improving joint mobility and health, and changing the body's perception of pain. Regular massage may help make you feel less stressed, and improve your mood. For Sports Injuries there is a large body of research evidence that proves the effectiveness of treatment plans in relation to specific injury types, and we ourselves have witnessed the improved performance of athletes who have regular sports massage. At our clinic we have patients who attend for either a short programme of injury rehabilitation, or those who chose, or are advised (dependent on the problem), to have a regular massage in order to maintain their condition.

KINESIOLOGY
Kinesiology is an extremely effective way to find and correct imbalances in the body on several levels. It is completely holistic in its assessment, taking as its starting point that there are three interrelated elements reflected in the body.

• Structure - muscles, joints, bones and posture
• Chemical - in the food you eat and the environment
• Emotional - your feels.

If there is an imbalance in one, it will affect the other two in the body by having an impact on your overall energy and state of health. Kinesiology can find the cause of the imbalance by testing the ability of various muscles to resist gentle pressure. As every individual is unique and your body knows what is best for you, a kinesiologist can help you find out what your body needs and the order in which it needs to be treated.
